Welcome to the "Heachache How-to." This site will hopefully answer any and all questions you had on headaches.
Cluster headaches, Migraines, Tension headaches, you name it! Thanks for coming and hope you like it!
I honestly cannot say i have ever met a person that had never had a headache before. And according
to the American Council for headache education (http://www.achenet.org/), i'm not alone. Incredibly almost 90% of men and 95% of women have had at least one headache throughout the past year,
so if you've never had one (which i doubt) then don't worry you probably will get one.
Contrary to my earlier beliefs,
the pain of a headache is not actually felt in the brain. The brain itself is insensitive to pain. The pain is actually felt
in: the tissues covering the brain, the structures that actually attach the brain at the base, and Muscles and blood vessels
around the scalp, face, and neck. Although the pain is not felt in the brain, it actually originates there. Where and how
it originates is still unknown and debated.
Doctors categorize headaches into two types:
Primary and Secondary. A headache is considered to be primary when a disease or any other medical condition does not cause it. A headache is considered to be secondary when it is caused by an underlying medical issue or disorder that produces pain as a symptom. Examples of causes for a secondary
headache include sinus infections, neck injuries, and strokes. This project will focus mainly on primary headaches.
Most Primary
headaches can be categorized into three main types: Tension, Migraine, and Cluster headaches. To find out more click
on anyone of the three now.
